The course is a mix of theory and group work.

On completion of the course, the following areas will be discussed.
(a) The Implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of participants,
(b) Creating a child-centred environment within the football club,
(c) Categories of abuse and some indicators associated with abuse,
(d) Know how to response appropriately to a disclosure,
(e) Know how to make a report to designated person or appropriate Statutory Authorities
Goals
It provides a good basic understanding of Child protection legislation and educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of children involved in football.
Target group
This is a mandatory course for any person working or volunteering with children in football in any capacity. The course is completed in conjunction with Sport Ireland.
Requirements

All participants should have completed Garda Vetting prior to attending the course.
The participants must be 16 or over. Due to the content on this particular workshop, consent is required from parents/guardians for 16 and 17 year olds to participate.

Once completed the form should be returned to the Course Tutor before the workshop begins.
The course is an online course and will require you to have the use of platform Zoom via a computer, Laptop or Tablet.

All participants must be on the Island of Ireland to be able to participate on the course. If you registered and are outside of this jurisdiction your registeration will be cancelled.
Note
A link, along with the meeting ID and password, to the Safeguarding workshop will be email to the email address you provide the evening before or the morning of the course. .
To access this course, you will need to click on the link or access via the meeting ID and password provided to you.
Please ensure you have completed the necessary requirements to access the course before the course start time.
On completion of the course, a certificate of attendance will be emailed to the email address you have provided.
Please ensure this is the correct course prior to booking and that you are available to attend on this date.
Any cancellations must be notified by email to the Child Welfare and Safeguarding Department a minimum of 72 hours before the course: childwelfare@fai.ie
Participants, who have paid for a course, shall not be entitled to refund if they are unable to attend a course.
Any participant, who is unable to attend a scheduled course and has informed the Child Welfare and Safeguarding Department of same in line with the above, can reschedule to attend the course at a future date, of the participants choice, providing that course is not already fully booked, however this will only be facilitated once.
The FAI reserve the right to cancel an education course in the unlikely event of the; minimum number of participants not meeting quota, weather negatively affecting participants safety, government guidelines etc.
If an event is cancelled by the FAI, each participant will be offered a full refund or placement on a future equivalent course.
If a participant registers for a course, without meeting the necessary prerequisites, the participant shall not be entitled to a refund.
The fees received by the Association will be kept on credit and can be used by the participant to complete the necessary prerequisite courses.
